Default Pintle cap cracking off, causing catastrophic failure?

Alright I bought this car with this motor, got a good deal on it yada yada.

It has blue top DSM injectors, 450cc. Cylinder 1 has half a pintle cap. Like so.

This is the same cylinder that has a broken valve that looks like so.

This motor was obviously driven for a while with this problem. Oil is everywhere and the turbo is, well, f**ked. Ebay turbo, not worried about that loss.

Anyways, I'm just wondering if that cracked pintle cap could have caused that failure. If so, should I remove all the pintle caps if I plan on using these injectors?

in the grand scheme of things, a new set of injectors isnt that much money if they worry you that much

Yeah, but, is this a common problem with dsm injectors? If it is, I can't think buying a new set will help if the pintle caps just break off again.
