Default Engine Options

So after doing alot of research and reading up I am trying to figure out which route to go for my base engine. I currently have a 2000 Ls with the base b18b, but cant decide if I want to do a LsVtech with a b16 head, or just swap it completely with a b18c gsr or type r. My goal is 350-400 hp and I will be going the FI route with a turbo soon after the swap is complete. Any feedback to help me make my decision would be appreciated.

Any one of those can make the number you want. I'd do it by what you can do the cheapest, but using the most new parts.

Like above you can achieve the power on all b series engines, but it's recommended to use some after market internals

Also would it be better to build the head from scratch and rebuild the block or to build the head from scratch and rebuild the block?

One of the main reasons for doing it is to get that extra kick on high rpms when I am stretching it out on the highway

Why dont you build your b18b if your gonna be pushing those numbers your gonna have to build the internals to handle that much boost.I say build your b18b.

I got a boosted ls in a 93 hatch on 10psi. I got 300whp on stock internals. Now I be took apart the block and replaced with

eagle rods,
arp rod bolts,
9.1 cp pistons with rings
Cometic headgasket
Tuned with hondata s300
Stock head cylinder
With rc 1000cc injectors

Still in the process of pushin up the boost to mayb 12 or 13psi
But got a problem with idling up and down on cold start but idles normal when its warmed up. Confused? I've changed out iacv and cleaned fitz. And sprayed the vacuum hoses and gasket with carb cleaner still nothin

Oh forgot I also got

.70 trim Garrett turbo
With gsr tranny
Clutchmaster flywheel
Competition act 4puck sprung clutch

Boost it man you'll gain lots of power even on stock internal with 10psi.

Possibly. You never know what is out there though. Sometimes you start looking and stuff just falls in your lap. Like my 94 LS. lol Best 1500 bux I never wanted to spend.

Just boost the stock ls motor and get a gsr tranny. with that setup you'll b spinning 2nd gear like its first gear.

The most I would go an a stock b18b without building the internals is 250-285 hp ish if you want to push numbers higher than that I would build the bottom end.

I assumed this wouldn't be done without a properly built block. I forget people cut corners. But you are on point.

By now the engine probably has enough miles on it that even a low-boost build would be a bad idea without rebuilding the engine. Why invite trouble. Even 250 whp is 170 flywheel hp per liter...
