hey honda-tech i got a eg sedan with a b16 swap and it currently isnt cranking. everything works like dash,headlights,interior lights. i thought it was a dead battery but i got it checked at autozone and they charged it to full and said its all good. when i turn the key to start i hear a clicking noise in the engine bay but not every time i try to start. do you think its a starter issue? do you think i should just remove it and let autozone test it or can this be a different problem? thanks

 

Remove the starter and bench test it. You don't even need to go to autozone.

 

Are you going to buy the starter there if its bad? If so might as well take it there to test it and if its bad buy a new one.

 

So describe the rest of the symptoms.
Fuel pump prime?
Just a click? or sometimes no click.
Definately get the starter checked out.
You also might want to check the engine ground wires, expecially the one from the tranny to the fender well.

 

1) Clean and tighten the G3 transmission ground wire connections on the transmission and chassis.

2) From the + battery post, run two wires, one to the starter solenoid and one to the starter motor. If the starter does not crank, replace it.

 

Yeah we are gonna test it when it's out. Will any b series manual start work with the b16?
