ive been havin this problem for a long time where after the car warm up to normal operating temps the idle will sit at 750 but then after a few minutes it wilil shoot up to 1100, stay there for a few second then go back down to 750 and stay. this will happen anywhere between 1-3 times a minute when idleing, like say at a stop light or something!

the funny thing is when i put in a brand new oem coil from honda it stopped doing this for about a month then started up again. i even changed the dizzy out with a brand new oem one and it still does it.. and even after swapping oout the igniter for a known good one it still do s it.

does this happen to anyone else? is it normal for the b18c1 engine? it gets really annoyiong because i have hasport mounts and the vibrations make it loud when idleing goes to 1100. also note some days it does it more than others, but it does do it everyday.

well ive clean the iacv twice now do you think the motor in it is bad?

and the car is a 96 dx hatchback but the engine is a b18c1 engine and im not sure about the year but it is obd2

 

Its possible that it is bad.

Or you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Do you have any buddies that you can swap theirs onto yours and try?

 

ok so do u think that the teporary fix with the new coil was just a fluke?
