Default WTF COULD HAVE GONE WRONG LOL

K so i just scooped up a 95 eg with a k20z3 6spd si tranny with lsd..has a 04-06 wiring harness <---thats what the owner told me...the car wont rev past 7,000 rpms he told me its a stock ecu...took it down today to xact dyno had tim look at it (local tuner here in phoenix ) and the ecu ends up being a genuine PCR-013 JDM TYPE R ECU...i did about 3 hours worth of reading forums and everyone said its the MAP sensor just went got a new map sensor and same **** vtec engages at about 5400-5500 and car pulls hard but it only revs to 7k...what else could i be possibly looking at? i don't really want to spend $1,250 for a kpro and tune thats how much it would cost me for a kpro from tim and a tune...i would rather spend a trouble shoot this little hick up then drop a grand...we can take out the MAP sensor since i just dropped in a new one...need some more ideas fellas?!?

What did Xact tell you the issue was? Why not pay them to troubleshoot/fix it?

First step is connecting a scan tool to the OBD port and fixing those...

That doesn't mean anything. Still not the right ecu for that engine.

i know but i should still be able to go past 7000-7500 rpm's i know the prc's rev up to 8600 rpms...i but i would rather fix the problem without going and throwing $1,300 for the kpro...cause i only got intake r crew header and a straight 3" exhaust...how much more whp could the kpro give me over the prc ecu...if i had cams and few other bolt on then yea but not just for a few bolt ons lol...all the vacuum lines are good, the MAP is brand new from honda...what else could i be looking at thats preventing it from going past 7k?

you'd be surprised what a good tune will do. you're going to need kpro anyway if you ever hope to have a reliable running engine and want to do more mods.

^If he's right about the reliable part then I wouldn't wait a long time do something about it especially for such an expensive swap.

A lot! really...tuning on K-Series motors produce tons of gains, especially in the mid range.

So none of your friends suggested blinker fluid? They're no fun.

K-pro is much cheaper then $1300 especially if you have a compatible ecu.

Give us a call in the number in my signature :-)

better is a subjective term. better for what? use whatever your tuner has the most experience with.

i will say, for a street car i prefer kpro. you just dont need all the extra features an aem ems has unless it's a dedicated race car.
