Motor temp. and Rev Issues

Default Motor temp. and Rev Issues

1989 Civic 4 door
obd1 B18
Bone stock except Dc headers and 2.5" exhaust
New fuel filter
New intake manifold gasket

Alright ive noticed when I let the car idle (COLD Start) and 10 mins later Motor get really hot. Even to the point where i touch the distributor bolt its super hot.

and whenever i Rev(Vroom Vroom) car idle drops to about 500rpm then goes back to regular idle(750 rpm)
Sometimes it will bounce up and down 500-800 then back to 750 rpm.

Any one have any ideas what could cause this?
timing? plugs?

Timing can be a big factor. plugs may also be a factor but not one that would make a drastic change. Either your timing is way off or you may also have a vacuum leak that will make the fuel mixture lean and raising temperature. Now i know you said the distributor bolt gets hot...but what does the temp gauge read?

temp guage reads normal.
Its on the half line.

So timing is the only issue i have causing the heat?

looks like the engine temp is normal by what youre telling us. unless your gauge starts climbing i wouldnt really worry about the "heat". now on the idle...you might have a vaccum leak or just need an idle adjustment

Ive own other Efs and never got this hot before.

i dont think u have a problem i think its normal i cant touch my dizzy after car is at operating temp.....its metal so gets extremely hot no matter what.....best thing u can do is check ur coolant make sure its full with no air bubbles....if u still dont like the temp use a thermostat that opens at a lower temp
