mini swap or ls?
Im looking to do a cheep reliable swap to my ek hatch. I want to do an ls or a mini swap im not sure witch one would be worth the time and money. If some one can help me out and give me your opinions on whats worth it.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Buddy of mine just went from a mini-me to an LS and said the difference is night and day. Also once you have B-series then that opens up more options down the road, for relatively cheaply doing an LS/VTEC or something along those lines.
Also it's easy to say, but depending on money situation you can almost get a B16A2 swap for only a few hundred more that will feel even better and already has a nice, short-geared tranny.

LS ftw
The LS tranny has some long gears and isnt that bad.
If you get a b16 tranny you should change out the 5th gearset to a LS 5th gear.
You'll have a quicker car but but the 5th gear will make it more tollerable on the freeway.

Ya go LS with B16 trans and LS 5th gear, i have that setup currently in my integra. The b16 made a major difference in acceleration of the car, the y21 w/lsd was the best thing I ever couldve done to my b18!
Once the weather warms up, that setup will be going into my EJ2 as the integra's body is toast.

^ your funny...google shows you the links to any given site with the info you typed into the search...49,700 of the results are from this site, which would be resources from "here"
do the mini me for higher compression ratio= better fuel economy and more torque and hp, sohc are cheaper, the b series tranny alone will cost you close to 400$ or above, and you only have to add 3 or 4 wires to your stock harness, ls's are overrated, more bang for your buck mini me

people who believe this, must have only owned single cams
compression increase over a stock ls is not much.... y7 block/y8 head = 9.96:1 / Stock ls = 9.60:1
sohc = 1590cc .....torqueless
ls = 1834cc .... displacement always wins
The slight compression increase will not be enough to improve torque or hp over an stock ls
d-series and ls trans go for around the same $

I have owned a mini-me 1.5 with EX tranny. It is a lot of fun. And if you set it up well you can start making torque at 3k RPMs. But once you go B-series you won't go back. And an imported B20 can be had for around $600.
you dont use the y8 head use the z6, if your using different gas cuz theres a ping theres a noticeable difference in the compression, sure on wikipedia the ls is rated at more hp, but it doesnt tell you your running a higher compression ration then the stock y8 or z6 the pistons are different in the blocks, ls's way more and the b series trannies are just meant to be topped out on stock motors, at least with his y7 tranny he wont be cruising at 70 in 5th above 32k lol
If he would use a z6 head...compression with the y7 block (which he has) would be 9.62:1...nearly the exact same as a stock ls. But I thought you said to go mini me because of the compression increase? He has not stated anything about swapping pistons...which y7 pistons will yield higher compression over y8 or z6 pistons anyways.
