93 EG Need Help Please!
I have a 93 eg with a b20 swap in it. When I drive the car if yu floor it nd bring the rpms above 3 grand the car starts to spit and sputter then the clusters to crazy nd the car shuts off. I was told I need a new ignition coil, distributor cap nd rotor button. Can someone help ease?
Ok...just to clarify...if you run the car for an infinitely long amount of time, below 3kRPM will it go crazy and die like you are stating, or will it keep running fine?
Is this a new problem, or has it been happening for a while?
Next, how long has it been since you last tune up? (e.g.-spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor, wires, pcv valve, filters, etc.)
Is you ignition timing within specifications (around 16 deg. BTDC)
If it will run under 3kRPM fine, for however long, I doubt it is you ignition components as those typically fail intermittently due to heat absorption.
It could be you fuel pump going out.
Also, if this has been going on for a while,
What ECU are you running? OBDI or OBDII...if OBDI, is it chipped?
If it is chipped, how was it tuned and who did it?
The tuning may be bad as well.

It's a new problem. It happened out of no where and it does it when yu run it under 3krpms just not as much nd I have no idea. I traded abt a month ago nd it just started happening. It's obd1 nd the ecu isn't chipped at all. I know it needs a new cap and rotor nd my ignition coil is missing the spring where it goes to the cap so I believe I need to replace the coil.

i know this sounds kind of unlikely but check just to make sure. happed to me with my h22 swap civic. it would drive fine if i was light on the gas but as soon as i would barly accelorate and about 3500 rpm if would sputter like crazy almost as if the feul pump was cutting off fuel and then returing it over and over. turned out the tps signal wire (red) and the ground wire (green) were contacting when the motor would rock back from accelerating causeing the ecu to freak the heck out because its grounding out
No the check engine light doesn't come on at all nd ill def check those wires tomorrow to see if it's anything wit that. I'm replacing the ignition coil nd cap to see if that helps.
Make sure all the wires on the sensors are in properly , I had the same problem and the wire on the sensor which was behind the intake manifold was out. My check engine light was off too . Just check all the wires on the sensors
We did. We plugged it back in nd reset it nd now it's running good. It's not spitting anymore. My speed cluster goes nuts from time to time when yu get on it but other than that it's running great now.
