Default Carsound OR CATCO?

hey was wondering which would be able to provide better gains for the dollar in a 2.5 high flow cat. i have narrowed it down to these two because of the information i have found on the web about them as well as the information i obtained in the archives. the carsound ususally goes for around 175 and the catco is about 120, they both have decent warranties but i am unable to make a decision on this because i have not gotten any bad feedback on these two manufacturer's. any help would be greatly appreciated. it's for a n/a car with an aem cold air intake - rsr catback with custom 2.5" mandrel bent tubing - comptech 4-2-1 tig welded header with 2.5" outlet. future plans are for itr springs&retainers and cams with gears that are adjustable - upgraded fpr - upgraded fuel pump - itr injectors and fuel rail - and an ecu done up by hondata to control all of this madness.

I'd go with carsound. They flow really well and the infamous A.Teo cat that flows almost as good as a straight pipe is really just a 3in carsound. Don't know too much about the Catco's though.

Besides clearance issues of the O2 sensor, I've had no problems with my carsound cat.

i had a CATCO for less than a month and the heat shields were rattling. i had to cut em off.

quality/price:
performance:

when i have to go in for emissions, i'll go to my stock cat. for daily use, pay about $50 and get a straight pipe.

with the test pipe won't i have to worry about the stink? i really don't want to deal with getting under my car once every year and switching out cats for testpipes to have my emissions checked? but if the highflow cats are illegal/for offroad use only do they work like a normal cat once they are wormed up?

Carsound. It's probably more expensive than catco, but i have no complaints. Excellent service and great quality, as far as i'm concerned. Then again, i have no knowledge of catco.

Test pipe = stinky exhaust gas and check engine light on

i won't have to worry about the check engine light my cat does not have the bung hole on it for th o2 sensor it is an older model where the o2 sensor is screwed into the a pipe protion of the exhaust header. but i guess in standing traffic my car would just be plain rotten, at about 40 plus i don't think anyonw would notice though.

well carsound does have a five year 25,000 mile warranty so they probably got new ones and were happy customers again

its all about a test pipe, the smell is not bad. do any of you have a test pipe on i daily driver? if you did you know it doesnt smell bad and if anything you will smell a little fuel if you are running rich. those carsound cats and all might not let you squeak pass emissions, i would think you wouldnt pass emissions. i say get a 50.00 test pipe, i had a carsound cat and i have it for sale if you want to buy it. i switched to a test pipe and we dont have emissions so i have no need for this carsound cat. if any wants it its for sale and its a 2.5 in and 2.5 out version.

I've had Catco and Carsound, both 2.5". I liked both of them, my current Carsound cat's heatshields are rattling after only a couple of months, I never had that problem with the Catco even after 1 year. I basically bought the Carsound because people were vouching for it, its the same thing to me.

I have a CATCO, and so far on problems, only had it on for a month... I think its a decent cat for the price. Couldnt wait for a Carsound so I just went with the CATCO... But in a few I'll be throwing on my testpipe for the hell of it and see if theres any difference or smell...

We'll see what happens.

Carsound outflows most cats on the market bar none. I use and sell them all the time with zero problems so far.
