Re: JDM ITR header and high flow cat (LatinEM1)
I was wondering the same thing...any 2.5" collectored (?) header with 60 mm exhaust piping. Will a 2.5" cat work, or are there any special modifications needed?

A 2.5" inlet/outlet cat with the proper flanges will bolt up with no other modifications. I'd suggest contacting David at SMSP to inquire about his newest cats. Flow testing shows them to be excellent performers.

I purchased an SMSP cat actually for my JDM ITR header. The cat itself is great, but the flange is awful. Its just a piece of pipe welded to the cat thats flared at the end, with a slip over flange. Doesn't make a good seal at all and pushes my exhaust too far back so it rattles against everything. I recommend the SMSP Cat definatly, but order a 2.5" flange and donut gasket from JHPUSA.com or wherever, and have it welded to fit.

I never had any problems with the flange on my SMSP cat. Did you contact Dave about the problem?

Re: JDM ITR header and high flow cat (Padawan)
I had the same problem. I just ordered a 2.5" carsound to mate with my JDM mugen header (2.5" collector), and was unsure if the 2.5" 3-bolt flange would match up with the flange on my apexi world sport catback....it will. The flange/bolt pattern are the same size, it's only the circumfirence of the whole that is larger. So I (we) will have a slight bottle-neck effect there. (60mm= 2.3xx. ) Due to the fact that it is going from 2.5" to the 60mm piping. Sucks a little for me atleast since my world sport is a chambered exhaust as it is. I may down the line purchase new 2.5" piping from kteller.com. That way I can change just the mufflers as I please and not worry about the piping.
kteller.com has the flanges/gaskets you will need, if you do not already have them. Hope this helps

does anybody know how long the cat will have to be in order for it to bolt up and reach my Comptech cat-back? will the outlet flange from the cat need to be welded on or just bolted on?
