97 Civic LX with y8 mini me swap -- Will a p2n ecu work?
ok i have a mini me swap (y7 block,y8 head) and i want to use a harness from a d16y5 vtec and ecu (p2n)
*note
i ddidn't wire vtec yet, im running a y7 ecu for now, just temporary.
i've gotten the ecu & harness from a friend. it came out of a 96 honda civic that had a d16y5 vtec motor in it.
will everything plug up?
when i install the harness, i will use the y8 intake mini for it. but now i have a y7 intake mani on the y8 head.
so is there anything different that the y6 intake mani and the y8 intake mani?
is there anything that is different or any problems i might run into?
will i get better hp if i use the y5 harness and ecu ?

These types of questions keep getting asked and the answer is always the same. The P2N will not run that engine correctly. You seem to be under the belief that ECUs are swappable just because they are VTEC or non-VTEC.

Try searching at least a little.

Plus the P2N will look for EGR (the y8 manifold doesn't have this) and a 5 wire 02. Just get the right ECU, P2Ps are dirt cheap on eBay.

but im just trying to understand before i start anything.
i have a p2p ecu already too, but i didn't think the d16y5 harness will plug up to the p2p.
now if i use the p2p ecu, it will look for a knock sensor (witch i do not have). the p2n (y5) doesn't have a knock sensor on the motor.
so can i use the d16y5 harness and plug it into the p2p with no problems. i should still have vtec right?
and again sorry for all the questions man, im kinda new to this stuff
VTEC won't activate without the knock sensor installed and also you'll have to wire up the primary 02 to be 4 wire unless your HX harness is from an auto but then you'll have some extra issues. The y5 harness will plug up to the p2p
it seems like the y5 harness isn't going to do me any good. so i should just stick with my y7 harness in my car now?
ohhh ANOTHER question lol
and yes i did google it but for some reason it confuses me.
i need to know how to wire vtec.
i've found this diagram that i need.
http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/wiring.96-98.jpg
now do i need a secondary 02 and primary 02?
if so what is that? the 02 sensors?
so do i have to wire up everything in the color RED or do i exclude the secondary 02 & primary 02?
