Synchro spring...what is its Mechanical Function?
Interference fit with the teeth on the synchro sleeve to retain the sleeve engaged with the gear (keep the the shifter in gear).

Thanks..I see it now.
Can I use the scha and reverse change from a GSR gearset in my supposedly B16 tranny?
And the/which synchro sleeves /hubs can interchange?
Screwed up a good tranny from busted linkage bushings I think (at roll-pin area)..and prolly a failing slave cyl. a while back.
Grinds, lock-outs in the heat of battle took their toll.

Sleeves and hubs are the same on hydro B16 and GSR transmissions

Thanks James...
Your tracking says my parts r in Austin..should get them tomorrow and start reassembly of this Frankenstein.
At least the GSR gearset I scored last year is in really good shape except for one gear...lucky grab, guy dropped it off at last year's D.I. Palooza
Not changing gears..just reverse idler, 3/4 sleeve/hub, reverse selector, prolly second sleeve, havent taken down mainshaft yet. Carbon Synchros and new springs, seal set.
And plenty oil!
IFO is in Ennis this Sunday...Woot!

from what i remember b16/ls have the same diameter sleeves/sliders 1-5/r and gsr have the same size slier 1-2 and 5-r but the 3-4 is larger diameter like itr/ctr
ls have the smaller 3-4 sleeve, b16/gsr are the larger ones.

I wish I could find just the springs for the 3-4 gears on GSR transmission. I have 978976 for the 1-2 and 5-R that are in good shape and would rather buy a bunch of 3-4 than spend 50 bucks for 1-5
thanks for the info

Finally took it out tonight. Tranny feels great.
Thanks you James and Honda Bull and IN VTEC.
My linkage bushings were all busted out (which caused this mayhem, I think) so after almost two hours in the hardware aisles, I fitted the shifter with a bronze bushing/nylon insert and bitchpin ujoint with nylon guts and it's never felt this good. Gears aren't even in the same place, lol. Zero slack.
I was surprised how much **** was caked up inside the mainshaft and countershaft. I started scrubbing with a round wire brush and that muddy **** of lube and metalflake came out for awhile. Got that bitch surgically clean... even scrubbed the diff down ... tranny looked like new inside and out..every piece scrubbed with carb cleaner and Simple Green.
I was scared to fire it up after weeks being down..u know the feeling...
btw, took the opportunity to fill my tired mounts with urethane and install the new
CC stg. 4 and Fidanza 7.5 pounder I've been hoarding.
Wow, it's nice to have a smooth tranny. CC says to break that **** in slowly...
gonna be hard to go 500 mi. before abuse.
