Default Question on CYP sensor error...

So heres some background on how I got here, my original dizzy went dead, it started stuttering and finally car did not start. so I ordered a brand new dizzy and got a beck arnley 185-5013. Opened box and it looked same internally, looked same outside too but when trying to mount it, it would not line up. So took out internals and swapped them to previous dizzy since something inside was bad. Car started fine, idle was fine, revved up fine to 7k drove it for 10 miles and it drove fine. Now during this the CYP sensor error has been on since dizzy swap, I have no fuel cut out or rpm drop and any range, it drives fine both normal conditions and hauling @ss from stop to stop. So my question is will this hurt the motor in the long run with the error being on, even though it drives fine? Sorry never had this error before so just asking others if they have encountered this or know of any info about this.

In your first post, you must provide all pertinent information about your car and engine.

If you reset the ECU, does the code return?

yes it returns. But runs fine which is wierd. I've heard of others having rpm cut offs with this error.

Ohm test the sensor (spec = 350-700 Ohms) and test the two wires for an open or short. If all is fine, then swap in a known good ECU.

Also you say it didn't line up, what engine did you buy the distributor for? They probably gave you one for the D15B7. If you can return it and get the one for the 92-95 SI or SI.
