Icon2 d16y8 sluggish after rebuild

whats up ht enthusiast
i have a serious problem.. i just did a semi fresh rebuild on my d16y8 and the motor is super sluggish like something in or outside the motor is way to tight.. i did do crank and bearings both main and rod, and i didnt adjust valves on the head because it came str8 out of the car doing good. is there anyway who has had or has knowledge of this problem. i have people telling me that the timing belt is to tight but idk.. plz help..

i did that.. but do you think i over tightened the main caps and the rods.. because i used one of those crappy needle torque wrench's im just lost.. i think imma pull the motor out tomorrow and just start from ground zero..

Try turning the dizzy over a bit. Timing could be a little off

what were your clearances on the main and rod bearings? did you check them?

have you checked the compression? does the motor sound normal?

go back and double check everything. if anything is out of spec, fix it and then check the drive-ability results. repeat until it's right.

lol sorry guys.. i didnt know you guys were still writing on this post but yes i did figure out the problem.. i dizzy was Fu**ed up and also after i figured out the dizzy was messed up.. i realized that the overall problem was the transmission and clutch.. the throwout bearing wasn't engaging or disengaging all the way so that's what was making the engine sluggish to a certain rpm.. also my valves were misadjusted from the last person who owned the head.. So all in all i had a whole slew of problems.. and after a week of driving the car i lost to much oil pass the rings and out the valves and ended up spinning a bearing.. soo now sadly the car is back in my back yard.. and its back to the drawing boards for me...
