Wierd Idle play pretty much!

(I have a 92 DA teg LS)

ok I don't really know how to put this, but when the motor is cold of course you get the high idle and then drops to normal 700 idle.

here is the kicker, when motor has been running for a while the idle drops to 500 when I press the clutch or put the car is in neutral! smh

the car sounds and feel like it wants to die, but car never dies and it jumps from 500 to 700 constantly.

I tried to troubleshoot, I cleaned the ICV (idle control valve) I think that's what is called, adjusted the air/idle screw (lol don't judge me), I also shot with timing gun! all out of ideas!....

please if you had the same problem and fixed it....share info so I can fix my DA. Thanks

 

How does the engine run under load, [driving] and when RPMs are up?

How does WOT feel.

Any smoke at any time, [idling, accelerating, decelerating, warm/cold engine], if so, what color? 94

 

no smoke what so ever, honestley the engine runs legit. couple of small/minor back fires, but nothing too serious. sorry about this but what does "WOT" mean? lol i am new to this honda/acura circle, but willing to learn alot!

 

WOT= Wide Open Throttle; Pedal to the metal.

Couple of minor back fires? Not normal.

Do you have any mods on this car?

ok thanks and that is good to know, all i know is headers and an ebay muffler which was baught like that! cold air intake.

engine check like is on, different topic...how do i get the DTC for an ODB0? i am guessing if i learn on how to get the engine codes, i can fix all the problems.

WOT, honestly dosent feel like anything is holding back! back fires occur when i shift....still got plenty pull, off topic spank a v6 stang all day! lol
but yes please let me know on how to fix issue.

if it helps, i played with the air idle screw to increase/decrease the air! Am i wrong to do that? i made it to where it idle a 900, but on occassions idle still drops down to 500 to 700 and sometimes 1500. wierd idle play is irritating, smh!

 

Put a paper clip in the blue two terminal connector under passenger side kick panel, turn key to on position and count how many times the CEL blinks(quick blinks is a single digit code, if the is a long pause between blinks its a double digit code)

When you adjust the idle with the screw the engine must be at op temp, the IACV must be unplugged, adjust the screw till rpm is at 750rpm or whatever you want it at, reconnect IACV connector shut engine off. To clear CEL for unplugging IACV remove the BACK-UP 7.5a fuse in the underhood fuse box for 10 seconds. Restart engine and see if the idle is better, if not repeat procedures above.
