98 civic dx runs rough timing issue
i have a 98 civic dx with a 1.6 sohc. I was driving and it died. I was only able to get it running by advancing the distributor well past the slots. I assumes the timing belt had jumped. I replaced the timing belt and set it to tdc. It ran great for one minute or two then lost all low end power was bogging and stalling. I found if I advanced the distributor again it got better. I assumed I had it off a tooth so I moved the cam one tooth to compensate it ran but had power loss and a gas knock so I placed it back. I have two techs verify it's at tdc. What could be causing the engine to mess with the timing that bad. It currently has no codes in the ecu
it could be your dist, when your timing is on, your sensor is in your dist. your ecu will try to adjust for that. Make sure you jump the two wire connector when your adjust the dist.
