Default Will the jdm b16 automatic or b18 automatic fit my Civic (ek) better than the other?

I'm looking to swap out my high mileage y7 engine and tranny and swap to a b20 with automatic in my 1997 Civic LX. I'd like to know if both of these automatics are the same size or if one of them is a better fit for my body style of car.

I don't really care about going manual at all because this is my daily driver and a manual isn't what I want for that so please leave those opinions out.

I will get you some pictures on here after its done. A local shop here has done a few and I plan on having them do mine unless my brother-in-law and his friend want to help me with the task. There is a harness for the b swap made by a company in Atlanta (rywire or something like that).

Hi,

I am doing the same thing. B16 is smaller so will work easier since B18 leave no room on either side trust me I know via bad info. Also, that we need automatic 99-00 civic sir (overseas) top transmission mount bracket same for rear and driver side bracket but can be manual. Trouble is that I am having no luck getting the automatic bracket, So i am trying to find out what can be substituted.

You said there is a shop that does swaps you should see what they say and if they can get that top transmission bracket. Please let me know what you find out I need help to still in the process of this swap, thank you. You can e-mail me DJBLUEFLAME@YAHOO.COM.

Confused. If a local shop has done a few, why the need to ask this question here instead of the experts at the shop?

When I posted this my brother-in-law told me that he and his friend would help me do the swap (for the price of beer and pizza this was tempting) and I didn't want to ask the shop for info then not give them my business. I've thought about it a few days and I've decided to give the shop my business so I plan to inquire with them this week as to which automatic and other parts I can provide them for the swap to be done.

I really hope this swap can be done and I'm very stoked about having this engine replaced.

Why not a manual? It's my commuter, I don't care about shifting gears and I want to keep it an automatic so my wife can drive it. I've owned two 11 second street cars with manuals and I'm to the point that I've had my fun shifting gears and shifting a 14 or 15 second street car doesn't give me very much thrill these days, I just want the extra power for merging and passing than what I have from the y7.

Hi. I want to Swap a B20 Automatic in my 5 speeds 99 civic SI,
My friend told me that he tryed long time ago and he could not do it cuz the Top tranny mounth is hitting the inside body. So i Guess the Mig will be needed to create a New trany mounth here, But i will go ahead and install it soon, now im still at working on How tune this Auto B20
A chipped ECU will not work on Auto program, So the ECU need to be standart and tranny controled by other PCM. Im using a 93 Integra Auto tranny
