Good Morning,

I am getting a P0740 CEL (2000 Civic DX HB). I switched it out with a used, borrowed solenoid and the light went out for over a 100 miles. Then it came back on. So I went to Honda and bought trans fluid and changed that. Bought enough to do it 3 times. When I changed the fluid I cleared the code, and put my old solenoid back on. The light came back on within 5 miles. I am NOT getting a D4 error code, but I am only getting 26mpg all interstate driving.

Should I waste the other $50 worth of trans fluid and another $120 on a new solenoid? Or should I just prepare to buy and install a trans? Trans shifts smooth as butter so it's hard to believe it actually needs replacing.

Basically I want you to blow smoke up my *** and say, "If it stayed off for 100 miles then it probably just needs a flush and a new solenoid."

if your car runs good and no problems...ingore codes. black tape over it.
seloniods and sensors will drain your $ and never fix anything...
get some replacement parts from junk yards. lots of civics out there

Thanks for the chart! What manual is that? I'd like to find out how to test the line pressure.
