2nd gear sticks sometimes and it slips every once in a while...
its an automatic 99 civic...
if it needs to be rebuilt or anything, how much will it cost?

Re: my transmission has problems (civic4nick)
If it doesnt have a million miles on it, try getting a BG trans flush. If its REALLY
screwed, it could cost anywhere north of 800$ Any DTC's? It could be a shitty sensor somewhere on the trans.

Change your Transmission fluid.
An AUtomatic trans slipping is a good sign of low/old fluid.
Is youre D4 light blinking by any chance?
I think you would have more luck locating an automatic transmission and not getting your current one rebuilt. It would prolly be more expensive to fix the one you have.
Unless its a sensor or a solenoid problem.

Well, when your automatic transmission malfuntions sometimes it will throw a check engine light, Also your D4 light on the gauge cluster will blink.
Its like having a seperate check engine light for your transmission. If none of that is happening you could just need of a tranmission flush.
GET HONDA ATF.

Re: (ifIexplode)
Most of the time after a trans flush...the slipping will worsen as the clutch material that is floating around will no longer be present. If the clutch packs are worn than it is either time for a rebuild or remanufactured unit. You could also gamble with a used trans but, that is a crap shoot.
96-00 civics are notorious for breaking springs inside the valve bodies. That may be causing the sticking and 2nd gear hang up....no trans flush is going to fix that.
Honda does have an updated vavle body kit to fix this problem
