Basemap Timing/Retard - LSVtec Turbo 12psi
Hello Honda-Tech!!!
This is my first post, as I am a new member. I know that my thread topic is overly common but I feel that I need a bit more insight on the issue. Please point me in the right direction if the answer already exists on another thread.
My new build:
LSVtec Turbo - 12psi
Garrett T3/T4 (50 trim, .48 *I think*) will verify soon
8.6:1 Wiseco's
Forged Rods
Neptune RTP
Here's my issue:
There is not a single dyno where I live (Guam)... at least not yet. Street tuning is my only choice. I have the ability to tune AFR's with my AEM wideband, but I am in the dark when it comes to tuning ignition timing.
I have decided to retard timing .75 degrees per PSI of boost, running 91 octane pump gas. I understand that this is just a rough method. To my understanding, this is based on a LSVtec N/A basemap starting point? Would my lower compression pistons significantly alter the ignition map?
I opened up a LSVtec N/A basemap and then incorporated the ignition adjustments accordingly. Would this suffice?
I welcome all serious recommendations or other recommended base maps.

You should get an answer here in this forum. For street tuning you should be reading your spark plugs to figure.out where your timing needs to be. If you search there was a thread about reading plugs posted a few.months back
Set your base timing with a gun. Set your high boost column at 16* that's a good starting point its probably gonna be low for your boost level but it will be safe that usually were I end up around 30-35 psi
Awesome. My high boost column was actually at 18*. I guess I'm heading in the right direction for Lower CR & modest boost levels. Thanks PFI_NAYR_ONE.
