Hi all,

I am a first time poster and was drawn here by the wealth of information you all seem to have and was hoping someone may be able to help.

I have a 96 Civic DX that is revving up and down in Park

There is no tach so I dont know what rpms it is going between.

When I unplug the MAP sensor it evens right out

There are no vacme leaks

No CEL

I tried to "bleed" the cooling system, as there is no bleed screw i left the cap off and let it run for 15 minuets heat on full engine never got above mid temp level radiator and coolant res are full.

Took out IAC and cleaned, no difference

When IAC unplugged and MAP plugged in still revving

When I try plugging the port in the throttle body at 7 o'clock the idle evens out. As I understand it however, there is no fast idle thermo valve on this year to be stuck.

I am at a loss and any help would be greatly appreciated.

How did this problem come about?

Does the hole you covered in the TB lead to the IACV or MAP sensor? Post pictures.

I do not know how or when this started I just bought the car It had been sitting for a year.

I am not sure which port goes to IAC or MAP

The hole i covered is the one at the 7 o'clock position if you were looking at the car head on it is the non oval hole shown in the images below
