What I know:
Amazingly I caught the gauge heading towards H before it over heated.
I turned the heater to high and to Hot and watched it come back down.
I checked my fluid in the reservoir and it was that same nice shade of green.
Too hot to check the radiator. Radiator is recent install from dealer.
Fan spins freely but does not come on at all.

What I plan to check:
Found the fuse while parked at the gas station but it was too small, mini fuse, to check. Will check that out when I get home, but from above, it didnt look burnt.
Doesnt the 96 have obdii? I didnt get a CEL if its the sensor and no CEL now.

What I am asking?
Any one have anything else that I should check? I really appreciate it.

First check if the fan itself isn't bad. Supply battery voltage to the fan connectors. If it runs, Check thermo switch, relay, fuse.

 

question 1. I think the connector is in between the radiator and the reservoir bottle at the top. Correct?

Question 2. Where is the sensor located on a SOHC 1.6L?

 

Answer 1. Yes.
Answer 2. Right above the thermostat housing. Two wires connector. Take it out and short it to see if fan turns on with key ON position.

Actually I was low on coolant lol took qtr bottle and after warming up fan come on. Must have been an air bubble.?
