Is there a way to recondition the rubber tracks our travel in?
Like the title says, i'm wanting to recondition the rubber tracks that the windows slide up and down in. it seems that the glass more or less sticks to the track, making it harder for the windows to be rolled up and down. I've tried using silicone spray, pb blaster, wd40, liquid wrench spray, and it all works for a day up to a week max before the windows are their same sluggish self. really it only happens about half way down, and go figure it's my passenger side window. i suppose i should also ad i have a power window conversion done using a mixture of parts from my stock hb cranks, sedan cranks, an eg coupe and a da lift back.
any ways, i saw on corksil's build thread he reconditioned his weather stripping using dieelctric grease, can the same be done for the rubber tracks?
thanks in advance guys!

I've seen my buddy using hand cleaner on old rubber parts... seems to soften it up quite well
if you know anyone that works in a tire shop you can use rubber solvent to clean the tracks ... then use brake fluid on the track to regain some lubricity ...silicone pulls the oils out of the rubber making it brittle ...where as petroleum products oil impregnate the rubber making it soft and spongy ....a good cleaning will pull the excess oil out and leave you with the natural rubber ...the brake fluid acts like a light conditioner for the rubber kind of rejuvenating and protecting at the same time just use dot 5 or above so you dont eat your paint off and be sure and wipe everything dry when your done....you can also use white lithium grease as it is inert but its pretty messy and hard to get off of your windows
I tried Vaseline and finally had to replace mine with a set of junkyard rubbers that were in better shape. My passenger window still binds a little on rainy or humid days.
really? it seems like my windows work the best in the rain.
@ron, what do you mean re align my windows? they roll up strait up and down they don't roll up crooked, if any thing it seems like as they go up the glass tries to push towards the inside of the car.
is there supposed to be felt in the track? on my van the tracks have a fine fuzzy felt and when they get dirty the glass sticks to the track

If adjustment doesn't help, also consider replacing the window regulator. It's normal for an old regulator to develop some play at the joints and this can cause binding.
