Default 20lbs on pump gas...dd..opinions? Safe?

Just wanted to see what yaw fellas think....I have a fully built, top to bottom, Ls/vtec with Garret 60-1 .70trim turbo. Been tuned on 17lbs and made 365-375 Whp......i wanted to turn up the boost to 20lbs since I got a new clutch and flywheel but unsure wether it would b safe or not. It will b daily driven, normally. May see a up to 10lbs of boost occasionally but not too often. Full throttle full boost MAYbe a few times on a cool night during a fri or sat night out wit da fellas... Thanks for your opinions/help.....

If its tuned to 20psi then yes..if you are asking if you can just increase the boost to 20psi when the car was tuned for 17psi then no..it will need further tuning..

Yes, are you using an mbc or electronic boost controller? You trying to get over the 400whp mark?

Any reason why you would run the high boost option all the time vs a low boost setting for dd & a high boost setting option via the mbc or electronic boost controller? Just curious. Its not a big deal either way as your foot dictates how ofton you enter boost anyways but for a dd/street car you wont hook 400whp in lower gears....most people gravitate towards a boost by gear setup and running lower boost levels in lower gears for traction...

Either way 400ish whp on a built motor should not have any issues with a tune'

We're gonna do a street tune. Not a dyno tune. I sold my green teggy shell that's n my avatar and now I have a Blk Jdm front teg that I put complete swap from green 1 into this Blk 1. So I basically wanted tuner to check and or retune to make sure it's still ok. And I figured since I got a new clutch and flywheel, let's and a lil more power wit couple more lbs of boost figured a couple more wouldn't hurt .....lol

Don't get Hung up on a specific psi. Set a power goal for your retune and use what it takes to get thee. Your tuner should tell you what he feels is a safe goal.

Yea my power goal is to break 400whp....it's pretty hot here in south Texas so it dnt get driven a whole lot during the heat but I'd like to b able too if need be. But she won't see full throttle much. Cops are bad here. She may see full throttle err now n then when it's cool at night.....

You never said octane... are we talking 87, 89, 91, 92, 93, or 94 octane? I assume the higher octane levels and for your power goals pump gas will work just fine with a competent tuner. Soo many people say their tuners are great until their engines blow. When you are clueless to the "magic", how do you actually know how "great" the tune actually is?

Well he has a outstanding amount of great referrals for bout the last 5-6years that I personally have been around and heard of...he explains what's goin on and what he's gonna do and stuff. Very trustworthy guy.....and as for octane I did say 93 octane n my last post. We don't have but 2 gas stations wit e85 so :/

Ill hit the 400whp mark with that turbo for you. Should be able to do so with the amount of boost your already running. The amount of boost pressure isnt the concern its the amount of HP and pump gas 93 octane will obtain 400whp no problem. I'm considering hitting up the dyno with my new cams in a couple weeks and also tuning my buddies hatch we just picked up on the dyno. Were going to 361 motorsports to use thier facility. Maybe we can get a better deal on dyno time for extra hours .

Need to see what cams your running. Take apart and check the distributor end of the intake cam. take a pic and text it to me.

I havent had any issues at that level with pump gas at 20psi...And Like Turbo ls said you should probably have that with the current PSI level. Im at 411whp on a smaller turbo then the 60-1 and only have gsr cams.

REgardless 400 on pump shouldnt be a issue, As long as the tune is good.
