Speedomoter problem

Default Speedomoter problem

So one if my ITR been sitting for about 2 months now. I havent touch it or done any repairs beside replacing the battery due to old one been dead. i started the car and check engine light came on for speed sensor. and the speed gauge goes all over the place or just sits at 0. I check the plug and its conected i check battery and its on correctly. any idea what to look for? or should i just replace the hole sensor ?

Code is P1337 !

i search and all the threads are on cars that been swap mine is not its all original type r

Perhaps check your VSS?

yeah im see change my 98 sensor into the 2000 and see what happens.

Isn't P1337 a crank sensor not beeing seen code?

yeah thats what i found out but why would it effect the MPH gauge? and for some reason VTEC isnt kicking in. there no vtec or oil code and oil level is normal.

also pass 6,000 rpm to redline car just acts like something was holding it back rpms takes for ever to get to red line

Check the pins in the vsS where they connect to the plug, make sure they don't have any corrosion on the pins. If so just clean them up and put some diod electrical grease on it

yeah just did that and nothing...

I have another question i look several site for a replacement part because at the dealer it cost alot. is this a two piece or just one? because when i took mines out just the black piece came out where the plug goes into and in the pictures they show this a complete rod with gear at the end. witch one is the correct one ?

bottem pic was wrong one is the firts pic.



Ok so after installing the new VSS the speedomoter works again and VTEC kicks hard havent felt the car pull so hard in months...

But chek engine light still one for P1337 !

Could the crank sensor gone bad aswell ?
