Default 'commonly modded' GS-R owners..

Chances are you see me more in the F.I./Civic forums than here. I do own a '99 GS-R, but it's no lie I've always played favorite to the Civic (turbo's will do that to ya ) Anyways, becuase I'm turbo-less for a while, I've been driving the geeser around and I'm already itching for more power. So here my question and I'd apprieciate more input/comments from those who have more GS-R experience than I do:

Currently have- Iceman CAI
Purchasing as we speak- Apex'i N1 full catback with 2.5" testpipe (I'll be using the stock cat till I get the DC JDM or Honda JDM R header).

What I'm thinking of:

'00+ spec. R cams or CTR's
C5 intake valve springs
'98+ JDM R header or DC JDM 4-1 header
VAFC
P73 ECU

I figure this should give me a nice top end gain since I'd basically be running a poor man's low compression ITR. How does this sound to you guys? Any reasonable suggestions? I'm not looking for 200whp really, this is gonna stay N/A for a while untill I'm DONE building the Civic (well over a year) so I'd just like to be happy with reasonable power on the C1 till then. I though about maybe slapping a 75-shot of giggle gas, but I don't wanna get hooked on that stuff so.... let me hear it!

Looking forward to making some Integra buddies

if you are increasing the breathing ability of it, deffinately consider a larger throttle body, and maybe even a manifold (type R, skunk 2 ect).

also, cam sprockets would do you well also, you can gain a lot more HP out of tuning the cams!

good luck with it, and the civic as well!

which is irrelevant to a GSR since the bolts don't line up

sounds good for just drivin around while you are building the civic to me...i agree with added an intake manifold (skunk2) and a larger throttle body...i also agree with gettin some gears and tuning the cams if you are looking to go that far

Sounds like you're on the right track. Don't worry about the intake manifold or throttle body until after the cams and header. All your mods will compliment each just fine.

Sounds good. Nice power adders. Get the Intake manifold though. and also try to get the DC JDM better than the type-r JDM one.

The P73 ecu wont work to well with the GSR. The ECU doesnt have a program to open up the secondary butterfly. If you rig it so that you have your secondaries open all the time, you end up losing about 10 lbs. torque from what i read on other threads. You can solve this problem by using the Skunk2 manifold then the ECU will make a slight difference.

I'd scrap the P73 and Vafc and get the Hondata S200, P28 ECU, conversion harness, and the skunk2 IM.

Why...how? It's been proven to lose HP in NA applications. Perhaps it's not such a bad choice if he plans on going FI later.

Yea remember guys, I'm not trying to push this thing over the edge just yet. I figure for the $275 the Skunk2 mani might be worth it, and it'll work alot better with the P73 ECU.

On a side note, I thought the secondary butterflies were vacuum operated and not linked to the ECU?

They are vacuum operated, just the same the neither the P28, P30, or P73 will be opening them. I'm using a P28/Hondata S200 setup w/ my stock GSR manifold right now. I tied the runners open, they won't open otherwise. This solution will do till I put the skunk2 I have sitting here on in a couple weeks.

BTW I paid $305 shipped for the manifold from Hondadriven(Charles). Best price I've found excluding auctions and Charles is a stand-up chap.
