Default OBD2 D15B into 99 ex. Cant find answers anywhere!!

My buddy has a 99 ex and has a 2 stage vtec d15b he want's to put in. now I know everyone says to just get the p2j ecu or p08 or chipped p28. I heard you can wire the red wire for the low rpm to solenoid to a 12 volt source so it stays in the vtec-e part of the vtec all the time and just run the second one just like normal. My question is, if i do that can i just run the stock y8 ecu? we're using the y8 manifolds and wiring. We want to use the stock ecu. Not trying to spend more money on the rare ecu's or have to do any tuning. Just wanna start it up. I can't find this answer ANYWHERE! PLEASE HELP!!!

Figured out how to do it. Just swap y8 manifold and vtec solenoid and you can run a p2p and the motor will run fine.
