99 gsr swapped ek hatch vtec problem
So I did a gsr swap on my civic and im using a chipped p28 ecu.
I wired in the vtec and I know it works because it does, you can feel it, hear it blah blah. The problem is, if I am constantly in vtec mode(i set it to engage at 5500rpm), for example first gear to 8200, shift second gear and I'm still in vtec, at the end of second gear my cel light kicks on. Forgot if it was cel 21 or 22 but with the cel on the vtec wont work any more. If i key off and start it again the cel goes away and vtec works again.
Anybody with similar problems? Suggestions? I dont have another handy dandy working vtec solenoid to switch out with.

I'm not seeing why setting vtec back to the original engagement point would do anything. I'm not using the original gsr intake manifold.
What does the manifold have to do with VTEC engagement? And maybe finding out FOR SURE what the CEL is that is being thrown. Don't know how anyone is supposed to troubleshoot a CEL when no one knows what it is.

never mind. problem is fixed. jump vtps to vtec solenoid. obd1 would be pins a4 to d6. do not jump vtps to ground...it will cause a cel 21 when you engage vtec.
