Hi guys.
I'm having trouble with my b16a2 gearbox.
It's stuck in second gear.
If I jack the front of the car up, and start the engine, the wheels turn and speedo reads about 20mph.
If I put the clutch in, it drops to 0mph.
I can move the shifter up and down gears, and the speedo shows its working correctly (e.g. If I put it in first, the speedo reads about 10mph)..similar story for second (about 20mph) third, fourth and fifth, with increasing speeds at idle, but as soon as I put it in neutral, it sits at 20mph (2nd gear)

Any ideas?

Are the wheels spinning at these speeds, or is the wheel speed constant?

 

The wheels are spinning at these speeds.
If the car was on the ground and I start it with the clutch in, it's fine.
With the clutch out, it wants to lurch forward and stall.

 

So, in neutral, are the wheels spinning at ~20MPH, or is it just the speedometer that reads 20?

Have you inspected your clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and clutch fork? Has the transmission/motor had any recent work done?

 

Yes, in neutral the wheels are actually spinning at approx 20mph.
The master, slave and fork all work, as when I put the clutch down, the wheels stop spinning at ~20mph and the speedometer reads 0.
All I have done is to change the gear oil.
To give you an idea.
I have a Citroen Ax and I have put my b16 in it.
I have not had The front of the car on the ground yet since doing the transplant.
The engine used to start up and run as normal, but after changing the gear oil, it seems to be stuck in second. I have not been thrashing it, as it has been in axle stands throughout.
It just suddenly got stuck.
