These things are stuck in pretty good. hard to remove. they are seated in pretty good. metal inside of the rubber not helping... any advice?

lol Just use pliers. It's safe to assume that you're gonna be using new ones.

 

i just did this job to days ago to my 90 cb my advice is "you gotta do work on that **** son" and get it done. you probably already have em out by now i hope. use a wire brush razor blade knife pliers just get em out. and &! when you must not loose any of the rocker assembly pieces and &! DONT NOT bend any of the dowels *the round metal pieces that sit in the round holes or your dumb be patient and &! take a good look at the rod or pole wtvr that is used for the exhaust side you will see that where the bolt goes threw the assembly and into the head that has to lined up inside so when reinstalling it leave one of the bolts in this will keep it alined when installing it and when you get it in torque your **** down the 10s are 9 FOOT pounds and the 12s are 16 FOOT pounds and you might as when check and if need adjust the valve clearance get back to me when you get that far

 

Yea i got it done right after i asked the question. Thanks for the help! I was hesitant to gouge the valve cover, but i think i was being too much of a perfectionist haha. Pryed out with screwdriver no prob. thanks ya'll!

For future reference.

I had the same problem, another customer at the parts store showed me and the clerk a simple how-to. Take a large flat head tap it out. Be careful not to damage the valve cover. Trying to get it out with pliers or something else might take a while especially if its the original seals. This is what happened in my situation.

 

I just got mine off 5 minutes before posting... Pliers worked. :D

 

I just used a torch and burned them out.
