Not really. Budget is relative though, what are you looking to spend?

A basic rebuild (if you do it yourself) rings, bearings, water pump, oil pump, timing belt, tensioner, valve guides/seats, runs about $400 give or take. If you already have a intake header and exhaust then thats a plus. If not thats ~$250. From there i'd put cams and a tune and call it a day.

You will be no where near 200whp with a budget of $1k, let alone with a B18A/B... I don't think you understand what it takes to get a N/A 1.8 to that power let alone a non-VTEC one. The quest is in fact unrealistic - especially on that budget. You would be better off doing a stock rebuild and saving up for boost or nitrous. If you want/need more details just let me know.

ok, i guess boost is how its gonna have to be ...since this is the case for reliableish power ...what should i do to prep the motor to handle it ....i've built n/a motors and worked on boosted ones just never built one for boost i know lower compression is a must for upping the psi but what else do i need to know? should i install a blockguard? do i need better rods? i know the rs ratio is quite tall on these motors and im obviously not gonna be able to wind it up real high so what kind of turbo should i look towards?

Well you asked a few questions soo...

1.) Build it completely stock other than gapping the rings a bit more. (Formulas can be given later down the road/search.)

2.) Factory LS compression is very favorable for boost. Although you can in fact boost an engine with 13:1 compression just the same. Compression will help the vehicle out of boost - the only reason to lower it would be due to crappy tuners/extreme horsepower/maxing out pump gas potential/ect... Completely unneeded for your goals.

3.) The rod stroke ratio is not bad like you think it is actually. There are two reasons why LS's can't rev to the moon: Rocker arm design and Connecting Rod Bolts.

4.) Upgrade the stock rod bolts to ARP's. Have a machine shop install them and then resize the big ends.

5.) Block Gaurds are a complete waste of money. If you want to waste $100 then pay to have it installed right you may as well light that money on fire in a trash can. Good enough analogy?

6.) If you are revving to the moon to spool a turbo you are either maxing insane horsepower or have no clue what or how to pick a turbo. Since your goals are relatively low something along the lines of a T3 57 Trim would be fine. If you are serious and want an exact turbo I could help you there as well.

7.) PAY ATTENTION HERE!!! PSI does NOT NOT NOT mean a DAMN thing!!! It's all about CFM. You could have a small turbo running 30psi all day every day for years and swap out to a very larger turbo at 8psi and blow your engine with the larger one the first time you hit full boost.

You have a LOT to learn in general. Forced Induction is not something you should take lightly. If you want something reliable it's not going to be super cheap. Stay away from eBay is an obvious idea. You can safely/reliabley run 300-350whp on a completely stock LS aside from rod bolts and maybe head studs. With a properly sized turbo you can have full boost around 4k RPM (maybe a touch sooner) and no lag anywhere.

very realistic. I got a bseries swap for under 1k. everything was bought from Craigslist and hondatech, so used parts. Heres what i got for the price i paid.
B18a1 long block w/axles/ef-b mounts/trans (from craigslist) - $120
B16 gears (from ht) - $50
B16a longblock with distributor/ and manifolds (from ht) - $300
bswap Shift linkage (from DNR)- $80
clutch kit (ebay) - $130
misc accessory pieces to complete (roughly $200)

Setup right now that i have in the car is a B16a with LS trans that i transferred B16 gears into it.

All in all, you can find deals. wait for the deal, it'll show up.

^ You built a 200whp B18A1 for under $1k? I demand dyno sheets and reciepts.

Also, you must remember - the "Midwest" isn't the rice land that California is. Parts aren't plentiful. Almost every time I buy something for my foreign cars it winds up coming from California.

ah lol. forgot about op wanting to make 200 whp. i guess i got lost in my own world about getting a bswap under 1k lol. i dont know how midwest are but if its true about the price for just the engine alone then you should have already knew that you cant possibly get a swap + 200whp for 1k.

Your best bet to get close to that (simple b18a1 swap) is to just buy a wrecked integra at a cheap price.

i definitely plan on doing the build but it will be a lengthy project as i have about 90 other things going on with the car right now ....im pretty much in the pre shopping stage of starting a build on my daily when its no longer my daily...i've got a roll cage, rockers, quarters, full interior floor panel patches ,custom speaker enclosures, and various engine parts just building a pile in my garage ....along with 60 plus hour work weeks and an old motorcycle that keeps failing 30 year old electrical components ....i need time can anyone spare some

I found a B18A1 for $200
B16A2 complete with locked up pistons for $300 + B cable tranny!
Combine the two and Bam Ls V.
I priced some parts of Ebay that will run around 1K with pistons, conversion kit and all the works. I say about 2K well spent for all parts needed.
