CRX 88-89 vs 90-91 Door protectors
Is there a difference in the door molding protectors? I need to replace the door protector the strip in the middle of the door (not the bottom). I dont want to order a full set since only one is missing (88) but dont want to buy just one if one will not be the same thickness.
Is there a difference in the thickness?

I cant get a clear explanation on what part is thicker and thinner. I am HOPING the are the same size just the 88-89 will stick away from the car further and wont look below.
Do you know if they will fit correctly (as in not have a gap)?
...|
../ <---gap
.|\
.|#| <----90-91
.|/
..\ <---gap, what i dont want
...|
Or will it fit fine:
...|
../ \
.|##|
.|##| <----88-89
.|##|
..\ /
...|
I cant find an 88-89 for left side, but for sake consistency I am thinking of buying 90-91 but dont want to waste money on something that wont look right.

It not sticking out as far as my current ones I could deal with, but if it means the "height" I dont think I could deal with a gap. Its getting hard to find replacement things, but dont want to drive around with 5 out of the 6 protectors.

The difference is small, but noticable between the two designs. Keep in mind that the bumpers are molded with which ever style too, so you are best to get the proper molding tthat matches them.
It is the width of them that is different, not how thick they stick out from the side of the car

I need to get two moldings as well. R, RR quarter panel and R, FR fender for JDM EF6. I will get some pics uploaded soon. So far I think 87-88 might be what I need, the thinner ones are EF8 Sir.

The thinner moldings started being produced for 1990 and newer models, when the EF got it's refesh along with newer bumpers, tail lights and instrument cluster

Hey Deetz, is that USDM you referring to? I checked your CRX link on H-T and I see you bought the JDM EF8 front bumper. Now I did the same conversion using EF8 front bumper but the rest of moldings are 48mm in width and little more flat than the EF8, kinda like those in the 1st pic of your car. I need to get every molding to match the JDM front end. Do I get North American market CRX 90-91 rear bumper and moldings???

The difference was so small, i actully chose to keep the larger 89 rear 1/4, door, and fender moldings, and use the 90-91 bumpers. Yes, it you want to atch it up 100%, use either a usdm 1990-91 molding, it is the exact style used on jdm SiR (really all 90+ ef front ends), as well as edm VT and 1.6i models

Well I couldn't find any USDM bumpers 90-91 so I ordered this one from Ebay:
