Default Flywheel removal???

I wanted to get my flywheel lightened while i still had the engine out of the car. I went to take the flywheel off and i noticed that there were like 10 bolts that needed to be taken off to get it off. They were all along the outside of the flywheel.
I think that they were all 12 point bolts....andi dont have a 12 point socket to fit it. What can i do to get it off? Is there anything that i should knowabout before i remove it...like if i do certain things i could break something? And do you have any tips to make it go by faster? Thanks...

PS: If you are looking at the distributer cap...what is the firing order of the spark plug? Like is the top left 3 and the bottome left 1 and the top right 4 and the bottom right 2?

first off, if youre going to be doing your own work on your car, get a helms manual. second, you NEED the special socket to take those bolts off. if you use a standard 12 point socket, you be in a world of hurt. and if im understanding you right, youre discribing the presure plate. the flywheel is held on by 6 bolts in the center of the flywheel.

You dont need a special socket. I got a 10mm 12pt. and a 17mm 12pt from checker auto...and they worked like champs (I just did it today!!). The hardest thing is to get the pully to stop turning. Use another ratchet on the pulley end with a 17mm and something to brace it with..then just crank away. There is a torque value for those things going back on..might want to rent a tq. wrench for that.

I was thinking that a 10mm 12pt socket would work...but what is the 17mm for? Do i need it to take off the flywheel after i get the pressure plate off? Ive got a torque so i wont need to rent one. Thanks.

The 17mm 12pt. is for the flywheel bolts.
