I have a 98 civic dx and whenever I come into a complete stop or bearly step on the brake the car turns off...I was wondering is there something I could check? and i just replaced the battery a month ago.

 

it probably has something to do with the distributor

 

If I were you I would first inspect the vacuum line going from the brake booster to the intake manifold, checke for kinks, one way valve failure, ect.
Also inprect your PCV, and the hoses conected to it.
I would then check for proper fuel pump activity
and then check for spark and timing.

 

i had this problem before in my old coupe and i replaced EVERYTHING. threw in a new dizzy and ran flawlessly again.

 

Had that problem as well in my ex, New distributor fixed it.

 

alright thanks guys, I'll check the distributor tomorrow morning and get it replaced hopefully that would be the problem

 

Had the same problem but it was my TPS sensor
