how to check distributor?

Default how to check distributor?

I have a 01 Honda prelude and i am getting a miss fire i was told it could be my distributor (i did change the spark plugs and wires but it did not fix it timing is ok to)

Take it off and check for build up in there. Scrape any off with a flat head, see if that helps any.

How bad is it misfiring? Is it 1 cylinder or all of them? Did u check to see if ur getting spark to all cylinders? Any other noticeable problems?

well the code said it was 1 and 3 and the miss is not that bad ( it only happened in lo rpm) i think. what seems to happen is that when i am not moving that's when it happens but when i am moving it all seems ok

if your misfiring it could be one in a million things. Best way to narrow it down is a 5 gas machine. That will tell you if its a mixture problem or its a problem in your secondary ignition circuit.

wow.... or you could just open the distributor, check out the cap and rotor. if all looks good, check the distributor circuits themselves. if thats good, check the coil although its likely the distributor. BTW, ive got an OBD2 distributor i need to get rid of
