I was installing my new alternator on my 1993 prelude and i kept tightening the bolt on the right until it wouldn't tighten anymore and i found shavings of metal so im pretty sure i stripped it. its the little bracket that sits under the alternator with 2 bolts and i can't find it anywhere can someone please help? the belt isnt tight enough and wont turn the alternator.

Remove the alternator and bracket and see if you did strip it... If you did, just get a new bracket.

Just go to the dealer and get a new one, it shouldn't cost much, might wanna get the long bolt as well. If you were local I have one at work in my tool box that's been there for years.

I know it's the bracket because it was hard to turn in (still loose on the belt though) and all of a sudden it got easier and i noticed the shavings and that the tension didnt get any tighter the more i turned. I'd be willing to pay for one and shipping if it's reasonable. Thanks for the help guys! I went on napa, autozone, and advanced and none of them had it.

Is this just the adjustment bolt on the end of the alternator bracket? As in the long 10mm bolt on the alternator that is towards the bottom/front with a second 10mm bolt on the actual bracket - or the 12mm bolt+nut that's directly under the alternator?

(assuming it's mounted the same as a 5th gen's)

and what model is your 4g? (so i can help search)

Why are you going to aftermarket auto stores? I already said you have to get it from the dealer.
