I went to change the oil in my 99 si today and I noticed the upper rad hose was swollen up pretty bad. I never had this happen. Car does not over heat , smoke , or loose and anti freeze. Does this just sound like a weak hose? Thanks guys
Yeah man, I would just say it's an old hose getting weak. I have a 00 SI and my upper hose looked like it was going to bust. It was a pretty old hose that just needed a replacement.

I noticed today that car is not heating up as fast ? Is it possibly the thermostat causing a swelling? It seems like there is a lot of pressure in the system
I'm assuming you have some of the original parts still on the car. It's safe to say you should change your t-stat, hoses, and if you haven't done so get the timing belt/waterpump service done as well.
when i buy a car part of the tune up i do is replace the t stat, any hoses that look/feel old, coolant flush, oil change, plugs/cap/rotor, trans flush, regardless of what the previous owner says is done to it.
oil eats hoses, so look for any errant oil coming from valve cover or something
only hose I had to replace recently was one right underneath distributor...soaked in oil and swollen....

I think everybody covered things pretty good. I will only add that if you shop around/online you could even upgrade your hoses. I bought a 5 pc kit of silicone hoses for $70 shipped

OP right now would be a good time to get some silicone hoses
