Default Swollen radiator hose 99 si

I went to change the oil in my 99 si today and I noticed the upper rad hose was swollen up pretty bad. I never had this happen. Car does not over heat , smoke , or loose and anti freeze. Does this just sound like a weak hose? Thanks guys

Yeah man, I would just say it's an old hose getting weak. I have a 00 SI and my upper hose looked like it was going to bust. It was a pretty old hose that just needed a replacement.

A swollen hose is 99% of the time just an old stretched out hose.

There cheap to replace might as well just do that. Better than being stranded in the middle of no where worst case scenerio.

I noticed today that car is not heating up as fast ? Is it possibly the thermostat causing a swelling? It seems like there is a lot of pressure in the system

I'm assuming you have some of the original parts still on the car. It's safe to say you should change your t-stat, hoses, and if you haven't done so get the timing belt/waterpump service done as well.

Replace the T-stat while you are there. They are pretty cheap as well.

You will need to drain/bleed the system anyways, so it's not really any added work.

oil eats hoses, so look for any errant oil coming from valve cover or something

only hose I had to replace recently was one right underneath distributor...soaked in oil and swollen....

I think everybody covered things pretty good. I will only add that if you shop around/online you could even upgrade your hoses. I bought a 5 pc kit of silicone hoses for $70 shipped
