Can't idle on crome pro
Hey guys,
Well I'm in the process of building a boosted y8. As of right now the motor is in the car still stock as I have not yest pulled it to build.
I purchased my 660cc injectors (high imp.) from Oside Tiger FICS, cleaned balanced flow tested etc.
I purchased my ecu (p06, chipped and converted for vtec) from hondadezign on ebay. He has 100% positive feedback and sells a ton of chipped ecu's.
I purchsed my obd-2a to obd-1 jumper harness from uneeksupply on ebay, also great feedback and tons of sales.
Well he made the original map he sent me with the ecu as a base map for my set up.
Y8, vitara/custom rods, stock head, 660 injectors, walbro 190, 57 trim t3/t4E.
I installed the 660's, with still the stock motor and pump, I wanted to see if it would idle and run, as it should, because the main thing is the injectors. Well needless to say, it starts and runs cold for about 10 seconds then sputters out and dies.
So I thought it may just be a bad map, so I payed XENOCRON to make me the same base map with crome pro, I got it and put it in, exact same thing happens....
soooo... what is going on here?? I know the map is good as xenocron really knows his ****, so is it a problem with the ecu? the injectors? Or is it because I dont have the turbo on it, or the walbro in? Which I highly doubt it is that, the map should be able to idle the stock motor with the 660's in, so what gives??
Any and all help is MUCH APPRECIATED!

Just realized, does it have something to do with injector impedance? the car is a 96 obd2a, the ecu is a obd1 p06, the injectors are high impedance, no resistors or resistor box, is this the problem, or is this how it should be???
Is the check engine light on? Do you have any way of monitoring the engine sensors? Maybe a data logging cable or a wideband O2 with a gauge?
Without being able to make any adjustments to the maps or at least see what the engine is doing. it's hard to tell what is going on. Your best bet would be to put the stock injectors and ECU back in and wait until you go to tune for boost.
P06 usually runs high impedance injectors. That is no issue

I am just worried I may have gotten a bad ecu is all, Chris (xenocron) makes thousands of basemaps that idle perfectly, so its something besides the map.....
That's why I asked if the check engine light was on.
How does the soldering look inside the ECU? Check to make sure that all of the components have been added and the jumpers are all in place. If you are unsure, post up a few pics of your ECU board and we can help you out.
Could be your conversion harness as well. I had an ebay conversion harness that had a few wires mixed up.

Well I also wanted to see that all of the components were installed and that he wasn't running off a stock P06.
From what I can see it looks like everything is in place.
Is your CEL on?

BUMP...I put the stock injectors back in, still wont run for more than 5 seconds. The back side of the ECU board all the soldering looks really good.
As soon as I plug in the stock ecu, starts up and runs like a champ, what gives fella's?
I don't have a wideband unfortunatly...

How does it run with the stock ECU and the 660cc injectors?......
If the ROM was created for 660cc injectors it probably wouldn't run with the stock injectors even if everything was working properly.
Do you know anyone around you that has a good working chipped ECU and conversion harness? You could try putting your 660cc map in it and see if that works. Or someone with a stock OBD1 P28? You could use it to check the wire harness.
The conversion harness might have a wire or two mixed up. You will need to get an OBD2 pinout for your chassis and an OBD1 pinout in order to cross reference them.

Sounds like an ecu issue. The easiest way for you to troubleshoot would be to take it to a local tuner or try the ecu in another vehicle. If the chip is for 660cc injectors I highly doubt the car will stay on for long.
660cc to 240cc is a final multiplier of 0.38. On a 660cc map with a .38 FM a set of 240cc injectors would have a flow rate of approx 86cc. That is the 100% duty cycle flow rate. At idle the injector is usually around 1%-2% duty cycle, even with a start up tip in, the 240cc injectors would only be running at approx 1.72cc/min (.029cc/sec) I don't know if the engine would even start with that little fuel. I'm sure I could get into air to fuel at those rates but it's well beyond the scope of this thread.
Can someone check my math.....lol
/BS rant
As mentioned above,
You should take your ECU and harness to someone with a car that is already chipped and running. Swap in your parts and see what part(s) work properly. A tuner will more than likely charge you for this.

wow chip soldered right into the board.
what you fuel pressure?
if you cant find anyone with a obd 1 car and a obd2a jumped car, cut the j1 jumper with the 240cc injectors and see if it runs
