My piston rings are fried and I have to replace them. I'm too broke for a mini me or full swap right now. I would like to add hp during this process and I'm wondering if I should go wit a diff head gasket for higher comp and if so which one? And if there's a cam I could use from a diff engine? I plan on cleanig. The head. And cleaning and lapping the valves. Possibly port and polish it myself. Any advice is appreciated thank you.

If you're that broke you don't really have much in the way of options, if any. Replace the rings and stop worrying about making horsepower on a D-series engine with no money.

 

That's what I kinda figured but I was thinkin since I'm already in there why not give it a little more power. Ik not to expect much but a little more's better than stayin the same.

 

I'd just buy another b7 and save money for a swap later. They are dirt cheap.

How much are the rebuild parts gonna cost? I bought a b7 for $50...

 

Prolly $120. The whole motor or just the head?
