Default Replace axle seal in car?

Do you have to remove the tranny to swap axle seals on a d series tranny?

Thanks in advance.

No...you just have to remove the axles to gain access to the seals.

Ok, thats what I figured. I had them out, but when we pulled them out, it pulled the seal out enough, and now I've got a leak. I figure I'd just replace them both while I was working on it.

Can you buy axle seals at your local advance/auto zone?

Do you guys just use a socket or something to tap it back into place?

I'm pretty sure you can, I've heard complaints that they leak though.

Use the old seal to drive the new one in.

Just spend a couple extra bucks and go OEM. They will last a lot longer and it's always worth it in the end.

^^^^Absolutely!!! I did a rack and pinion job FOUR TIMES - out, in, out, in... etc. because I bought an Autozone R&P, leaked within a week. Actually spent LESS money getting an OEM R&P and have not had one problem!!! Well worth the money AND YOUR TIME!!

no. Just the axles themselves. The seals are relatively easy to replace.
