Default b18b flywheel need help!

okay. so im swapping my d16z6 for a b18b. the b18b was an automatic transmission. Im swapping the transmission out with a manual one. i got the flywheel and the clutch ready.(yes it is a stupid question but i need to know) my question is that the 8 bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank do i really need 8 bolt to hold on the flywheel? because 2 of the other hole are crossed threaded. what can i do? can i tap it with the same size 12mmx1.0(which no local store has it)? should i retread it bigger? if so will it be okay to the crankshaft? or im **** out of luck and need a whole new crank shaft? please answer if you know. thanks!

Might be able to helicoil it. If not you need a new crank. And yes you need all of the bolts

It's hard to cross thread those bolts....unless you were using a power tool instead of wrench socket. You need flywheel bolts, not the flex plate bolts. There is a difference in bolt length.

X2 on flywheel bolts. You got the right bolts correct? Your not trying to use the ones you got off the flexplate?

yes i do now. before i was using the flex plate bolt. i didnt know that there were a difference until i tried to torque them down. that's when i realize that the bolts are different. now that i have the right one two of the hole for the bolts to attach to the crank are cross treaded. the bolt will go in and it will be stuck. forcing it will just be worst.

any other suggest?
thanks

Flex plate or flywheel bolts usually screw in easy. However, since you didn't respond to my post, I'm gonna assume you messed up the flywheel mounting holes (crank) using an air tool. Heli coil insert repair is what you need. If that doesn't work, another crankshaft will have to be sourced.

You could try a thread repair tool, see if you can clean up the gunked up threads

Wow man that sucks. To be brutally honest you can try to helicoil but its not gonna work. This is a vital part of your driveline and you don't want to throw off balance either. Iv'e had some bad experiences with helicoils. Bite the bullet and put another crank in it, and you might as well freshen up the motor too while you're in there. good luck .
