Default Burning oil with good compession

Car is a 2000 si. B16a2 with 146k miles.

Just got the car months ago. Last owner was a old man who took great care of the car. He said he rebuilt the valvetrain a month before he sold it. Never had any probems.

Its burning oil now. More noticable under deceleration and in vtec. Compression test results were 215 210 185 210. Runs great. Just burns a lot of oil. Whats wrong with my car?

if it were valve seals he would see more of a cloud of blue smoke at start up then cruising. not saying it couldn't be valve seals just the op said nothing about burning oil on start up. i killed my rings in my old b16 compression was around 190-200 and burnt mad oil in vtec i swapped the whole bottom end and she's been good to go ever since

I'd be a bit concerned with that 185 reading. Me personally, I wouldn't call that good. Do a leakdown test.

Any idea what exactly was done?

Smoking during deceleration is a symptom of bad valve guide seals.

The compression numbers are a bit low overall for even a B16A2, and like Marc said, having one cylinder really low (< 10%) isn't good either.

There maybe a combination of factors causing the oil consumption.

Do you see smoke, at start up or running?

How much oil are you burning per miles? ie. 1 quart per 1000 miles etc or more than that.

Any oil staining on the back bumper?

Did you do a wet comp. test? Do a leakdown test as said above

I did not do a wet and dry comp test. I haven't really noticed any smoke after cold starts but I do notice it burning a lot easier. Like, if I just cold start it and drive right off without letting it warm up at all it throws a cloud. The motor feels like its running perfect. It's never missed either. Feels too powerful to have a weak bottom end. The previous owner only stated that all the valves were replaced. I doubt he ever beat on the car so could I have damaged something with the valves by getting on it more than the engine was used to? Because that is how it seems. It didn't even poof smoke before. I'm halfway second guessing how good of work was done to the valves 7k miles ago.....
