Vtec engages late
My 96 Itr engages Vtec around 6200 -6500 Rpm. Is that the correct switch over point? I just have exhaust and filter. stock ecu.
I changed two P73 ecu but still no difference. oil level if fine.

tach might not be reading correctly .. ive seen it again and again with cars the factory tach can be off a good bit .. every honda ive ever owned has been off by at least 100 rpm when plugged into scan equipment .. 5700 is stock point for type rs if memory serves me right .. could just be a crappy tach .. could always have a shop plug into it and read live data check the 2 reading to make sure they match .. if there was a problem causing it to come on late you would have a cel

I had the same issue on a car a few years ago. was a type r swap in a eg.
Every thing was fine, wired right etc etc.
Same exact issue. vtec engaged at 6800 or some retarded amount.
threw it on the dyno and it was spot on 5500 or what ever we had it set at.
cluster was trash. i would def find a good working cluster and go from there.
