Icon2 motor noise

Hey guys i posted on here a while back about my d16z6 making a funky noise, people were saying it was probably a valve tick and nothing to worry about. Now recently the noise got louder and worse. I have a exhaust on my car and now when driving you can here the noise over the exhaust in the car. The noise is there when you start the car for like 45 seconds when you start it up then goes away, and come back when you are driving. Is this a valve tick or rod bearing, how to tell the difference. Any and all help is appreciated.

And you never posted back to follow up. Before you said it was coming from the transmission.

Sounds like rod knock. Open the hood and see exactly where it's coming from, block or head. If it's from the block you're done.

Yeah for a while i haf a noise in my trans also but a flush and fill fixed the trans issue. I opened my hood and it seems like the noise is comin from the head.

Have you tried adjusting your valves?

just got my car back from the mechanic who took a look at it and no good news. He says that it is piston slap? What is this and will it do any damage to my car that it already has not, any fixes even temp ones. better to try and fix the problem or just motor swap?

Lude comment for the slap, but what are your car stats...miles on the motor. Run it till it dies or throw some money at it as in a new car/motor, pretty comparable price to engine work.

Aww that sucks!

Hrm...since the bottom is toast, move on past the D-series mini-me!
Heck, for about the same price as piecing together a mini-me like that, you could find a good B-series long block, some axles, and add some wiring and an ECU and throw that all in there, and you'll have a fun to drive little Honda!
There are DIY's for it all over the place too :D
(then sell the toasted motor and trans to make up some of the cost. After that, the overall cost isn't much higher than that mini-me plus you'll have WAY more power potential than any Mini-me will!)

My .02

i agree with this guy, id suggest an ls longblock with a gsr or b16 transmission. feels way peppier than a single cam and you have tons of room for improvement(gsr/b16 head, run boost through stock internals, build and boost the hell out of it) best bang for your buck imo
