ej1 with trans noise
Hey everyone i have a ej1 d16z6 and recently started to hear some funny noise from my trans. Its a 5spd and i was told when i replaced the clutch that i had a leaking axle shaft seal so when i heard the noise i just figured it was low on fluid. I took it to the shop my work uses to have them top it off, and when they pulled the fill plug oil started pouring out so it was full. However the fluid was black and had what looked like some very fine metal shavings in it. The car does not pop out of gear or anything like that clutch is a exedy stg.1 that's about 2 yrs old. Any ideas? I really dont want to replace the trans if i can get away without doing so. I was told put thicker oil in it and it should help the noise, they say it sounds like loud syncros. any and all help/input is appreciated. thanks

Re: ej1 with trans noise
You never described the noise. Did the sound go away when you pushed down the clutch pedal? If so, the problem is likely the input shaft bearing, or one or more other main bearings inside the transmission.

Re: ej1 with trans noise
the noise is kinda hard to explain, it just sounds kinda like a groaning noise and its only when the car is driving, thats why i thought maybe low on fluid.
