here's my problem, yesterday my car broke down when my brother was using it, he said car would go into all gears but it wouldn't move. so today i jacked it up and noticed right away grease on the passenger side of the car. i noticed the cv joint was already loose. So i took it off today and as i inspected the male end that goes into the transmission i noticed that it had broken off at the end where the spindles start. i tried plying it off a screwdriver but it wont budge. Im about to pull the other cv joint off to see if somehow i can push the broken in piece off from the other side. Has anyone dealt with this problem. I don't want to look for a new tranny just yet. If so how would you go about removing the broken in piece. Anything would help. BTW the tranny is an m2l5. thanks.
i am not positive about what you describe, but it sounds like maybe the stub axle on the inside of the cv joint cup is broken off in the transmission? if so then take the half shaft off and put a long drift in against the end of the axle and hammer it out.
Happened to my friends ek when he broke an axle. We had to remove the half shaft, stick a screwdriver through and tap it out with the screwdriver and a hammer.
i hate to take over somebody else's thread but, could you see all the way though the trans when you pulled out the other cv? or was there a post in the middle you were working around?
