drive axle wont go in
hi guys, im installing my friends clutch in his hatchy, i had no trouble taking the tranny, replacing the clutch, or taking the axles out. but the trouble started when i tried to put the axle back in. first it wouldnt go in the steering arm, so i took the whole thing out and it finnally gave up, then it wouldnt go in the tranny. so i took it out of the steerin arm to have less wait to make it easier for me but now it still wont go in the tranny. the teeth are fine but it just wont go in, if this ever happened to anybody please give me some tips. thanks

Angle the axle so the snap ring is up when you go to pound it in. Or just line the axle up straight into the diff (have your buddy hold the knuckle back out of the way) and whack away Jim. Thread the nut so it's flush with the end of the axle so as not to mushroom out the end when you hit it.

If the old axles came out fine the new ones should go in just as easy. I've seen a couple cars that the splines inside the differential got twisted with the splines on the axle and locked the two together, but obviously this isn't the problem here.
I would have your friend line the axle up straight into the diff while you grab middle of the shaft and shove on it. It should only take you one good shove to pop it in there. If that doesn't work, line it up straight and hit it with a hammer. Just be careful not to smash the tri-pod joint.
