Default stains on rods

I just recently dissasembled my b18 block. Sent it to the machine shop. They cleaned the block, decked it, pressed my pistons on to the rods. They said they all checked out fine. On the rods where the bearings go there are black stains from the previous rod bearings. How to I get those off? I know I cant use anything abrasive so what can I do?

It's a stain...as long as the surface is flat and smooth there will be no issues with it. No one sees under the bearing of your rods connected to the crank under and oil pan Slap dem berings on dere and get dat bitch runin!

stains normally means overheating has occured.
if they checked them for roundness and dimensions, and they checked out fine run it!

if they have'nt checked them, sure do so!!!

Look on the backside of the bearings and you will likely see the stain a bit more pronounced. This could be an indication of incorrect bearing crush where the bearing did not seat properly in the rod bore. In doing this, oil gets between the bearing and simply gets hot. Much like the internals of an engine whose oil change intervals were too long.

Scotchbrite pads. Purple in color if possible.
