Default 4 egt's vs 4 widebands high boost turbo setup

What are the benefits of both and why? Who here has experiences using a setup like this and could you chime in? Has anyone ever noticed any of your cylinders running leaner then the others in high boost in 25 - 45 psi situations? which is more beneficial in a high power turbo setup?

AEM offers a pretty snazzy system here http://www.aemelectronics.com/wideba...controller-60/

Any help is appreciated thanks.

i did find this thread while searching, extremely good info just looking for more from experiences these days.

Hello,

the benefits of both are nearly the same , prevent any damage with 4 egt's u can ,with aem ems, tune each cilynder to adjust your air fuel to your needs. U can lock with an ems all the engine running on the af ratio desired.... The same can be done for egt..

The more information you have, the better able you will be able to tune the vehicle and/or notice issues or changing issues over time.

As xenocron said the more information the better. Yes even at high boost you will not have a equal distribution on AFR. D-Sport recently did a test on the 4-Channel Wideband although I can't remember what issue it was.

In my opinion, if you have to ask this question, I wouldn't recommend spending your money on either. Just get a single wideband oxygen sensor/controller for now. If the benefits of individual AFR/EGT readings are unclear to you, then you won't know what to look for or how to really use the data.

If your tuner recommends more based on the complexity, uniqueness, or aggressiveness of your setup, then you can look into stuff like this. Custom intake manifold development is a good example of an application that would really benefit from individual AFR readings.

i agree a i don't really think a street car really would benefit much from a 4 channel wide-band but if it was a track only car then yes being able to monitor this would be a Hugh benefit! really the best setup for a street car with a forced induction needs a single wide-band and a single factory narrow-band. wide-band for tuning then switch to narrow-band for driving, this keeps closed loop functioning correctly and a very good ability to tune still. i understand i really like to go all out myself, but a bit of a overkill in a street car, more of a conversation piece. and yes the dsport was in the last issue (on the included dvd) a nice little rundown on the 4channel setup. don't watch it because then you will want it and you really in all reality don't need it.

Thanks for all your thoughts gents. I did run a single wideband in the past but after seeing the affects in each cylinder after having the motor taken apart I've noticed that there is no doubt my motor was running uneven. I purchased the aem 4 channel system along with the backpressure kit they offer. This combined with individual cyl trim should work well im hoping. Car is race only. I will be sure to write a review about it when the time comes.
